Katsina State Targets N3.5 Billion in Zakat Collection with New Committee

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated district-level committees for Zakat and Waqaf in all 34 Local Government Areas, aiming to collect N3.5 billion in Zakat.

The committees, spearheaded by district heads and comprising representatives from various sectors, will oversee Zakat collection and distribution under the Zakat and Waqaf Board's supervision.

Governor Radda emphasized the importance of Zakat and Waqaf in attaining Allah's mercy and overcoming challenges, while also highlighting his administration's efforts to combat social vices through the Hizba Board.

The Zakat and Waqaf Board Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Musa Filin Samji, announced that 5,000 vulnerable people have been identified in each local government area to receive Zakat.

The global chairman of the Coalition and Sadaukin Sokoto, Muhammad Lawal Mai Doki, pledged to provide training to traditional rulers on Zakat collection and administration.

The inauguration marks a significant step towards strengthening the state's social welfare programs and promoting Islamic values.
