Security Deteriorates in Nigeria in May - Beacon Consulting Report

A report released by Beacon Consulting reveals a 10.28% increase in insecurity in May 2024, with 762 incidents of insecurity recorded, compared to 691 incidents in April.
According to a source from the BBC, Beacon Consulting noted, "In May 2024, insecurity escalated by 262.70% due to a significant rise in kidnappings, largely attributed to bandit attacks in the northwest of the country," the report states.
However, the report also indicates a slight decrease in the number of fatalities in May, with 1,090 deaths recorded compared to 1,097 in April, marking a 0.64% reduction.
The report identifies the states most affected by insecurity, including Borno, Edo, Abuja, Kaduna, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
In conclusion, the report calls on all stakeholders to take appropriate measures to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
