Isyaku Rabiu University sets for 2023/2024 academic year, inaugurate Governing Council members

The Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano has completed all necessary requirements and arrangement to commence academic programs in the next 2023/2024 session.

KHAIRUN, a private university founded by late Islamic scholar and father of President of BUA Group of Companies Alh. Abdulsamad Isyaku Rabiu was licensed by National University Commission (NUC) in May, 2022, is set to open admission into its 16 undergraduate programs.

Addressing journalists on Monday at the inauguration of KHAIRUN Governing council members, one of the sons of the founder, Alh. Rabiu Isyaku Rabiu disclosed that KHAIRUN was established to provide access to quality higher education as part of commitment and passion of the founder late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.

While quoting the World Bank record that indicated only 12.1 per cent of prospective candidates got admission into Nigeria universities in 2018, Alh. Rabiu explained that KHAIRUN is committed to bridge the inaccessibility gap especially in Northern Nigeria.

Alh. Rabiu, the Executive Chairman IRS Airlines Limited, said the private university was ready to comply with NUC regulations, and the extant laws compelling the provisions of inauguration of Governing Council, emphasized that members of the council are men and woman of integrity who have excelled in their chosen careers and found profoundly worthy for their contribution to humanity.

” The council shall be the governing body of the University and shall have the general management of the affairs of the University and in particular the control of the property and expenditure of the University. Let us all work hand in hand to fulfill our shared mission of advancing education and knowledge in our state in particular and our great nation.

Chairman of the new council and Pro-Chancellor Professor Kabiru Isyaku lauded the decision of members of the Khalifa Rabiu Islamic Foundation International and Board of Trustees of KHAIRUN for finding members of the council worthy of the task.

The new Pro-Chancellor, on behalf of the members, pledged the council’s commitment to discharge the entrusted mandate hinged on ensuring access to quality education, anchor on effective management, in line with the legacy of the founder of KHAIRAN, late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba hinted the university’s management preparedness to work harmoniously with the governing council to actualize the vision of the founding fathers. The former Registrar of, National Examination Council, NECO, revealed that the management has finalized modalities with Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and NUC which now set the stage for smooth take-

off of academic session before the end of 2023.
According to the VC, 16 undergraduate programs under the faculties of Allied Medical Science, Science and Computing and Engineering will kick-start the session.

Members of the council include former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Auwal Zubairu Gambo rtd., Professor Musa Borodo, Professor Abdullah Uba Adamu, Professor Rabi Muhammad Ashiru, Malam Garba Iman, Alh. Nura Isyaku Rabiu, Alh. Kabiru Isyaku Rabiu, Alh. Hafizu Isyaku Rabiu and Alh. Datti Yusuf, the university’s registrar who will serve as secretary.
