Northern Senators’ Forum Urges Nigerian Government To End Abductions
The Northern Senators’ Forum has issued a fervent plea to the Federal Government, urging decisive action to curb the alarming trend of abductions plaguing the nation.
In a statement released by its chairman, Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, on Thursday in Abuja, the Forum expressed deep concern over the recent surge in violence and kidnapping incidents in the northern region.
Highlighting the distressing events unfolding in Kaduna State, including the abduction of 286 students and staff on March 7, the Forum underscored the urgency of the situation.
Sen. Yar’adua condemned the reprehensible attacks, which also included the assault on worshippers in a mosque on March 8, and subsequent abductions on March 12, 17, and 18, involving a total of 87 individuals in Kujuru.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, the chairman stressed the imperative for immediate and resolute government intervention.
As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Sen. Yar’adua reiterated the Forum’s unwavering commitment to seeking a lasting solution to the insecurity menace.
He pledged relentless efforts towards improving the security landscape and ensuring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes face the full wrath of the law.
The Forum reaffirmed its dedicated pursuit of its mandate to safeguard the well-being of the people and the nation, vowing to spare no effort in achieving this noble objective.
