Shimfida, a community in Jibiya local government with a population of five thousand, faces a daunting situation marked by the absence of essential facilities such as hospitals, Islamic and modern schools, and inadequate transportation for daily needs.

The village endured an attack by bandits, resulting in kidnappings and the displacement of residents who sought refuge in Jibiya for over six months. 

With the stabilization of security under the previous administration of Aminu Bello Masari, the residents were escorted back by security forces, only to find their schools and vital infrastructure destroyed by the bandits.

Compounded by the ongoing security concerns, residents can only leave the village once a week, accompanied by security forces due to limited fuel resources. 

The security officers have communicated their inability to provide daily escorts, emphasizing a weekly routine for the residents to venture out for necessities.

Residents expressed distress over the compromised health and education of their children due to the absence of hospitals and schools. They urgently appealed to the Katsina state government for assistance in addressing their pressing challenges.

In response, Katsina Times reached out to Honorable Sabi'u Maitan, Chairman of Jibiya local government, who acknowledged the veracity of the concerns. "He assured the residents that the government, under the leadership of Malam Dikko Umar Radda, is actively monitoring and addressing the situation."  Apologizing on behalf of the Governor, Maitan promised that the government would thoroughly examine the village's predicament and take necessary measures to enhance the quality of life. 

Additionally, he affirmed the commitment to supporting the security officers overseeing the town in collaboration with Jibiya local government.
