Former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has within the space of two weeks received three different awards from separate groups and schools in the state.
He was first awarded last week by the Faculty of Law at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University for his support to establish the school while he was the governor of the state.
Similarly, the former governor also received an award of excellence in recognition of his passion for education from the Association of Katsina State Foreign Trained Health Workers (AKSFTHW) who are now heads of departments and health workers in all the hospitals in the state.
Recall that in 2010 about 800 students were placed on a scholarship scheme to various foreign schools to read medicine, surgery and other pharmaceutical courses in Egypt, Jordan and Niger Republic, and are now productive in delivering effective health care in the state’s hospitals.
And just by the weekend, Bar Shema was again given an honorary degree of law by the Federal University of Dutsin-ma for his contributions to the establishment and development of the school.
Shema, while remarking at one of the events, thanked residents of the state for recognising his contribution at this time, adding that the honour belongs to Allah who made all things realistic.
He said, “As we received these honorary degrees, we are mindful of the responsibility that comes with them. We are aware that we are not only being honoured for our past accomplishments but also for our potential to contribute to the future of our country and humanity.
“We are challenged to use our knowledge, skills, and talents to help Nigeria overcome its contemporary challenges of insecurity, high unemployment, poverty and spiralling inflation accompanied by the ever-rising cost of living among socioeconomic indicators, which we hope and believe the current administration of President Bola Tinubu will address urgently.”
