In a harrowing turn of events, Sabuwa local government area in Katsina State has become the stage for a distressing narrative of criminal activity. Last Friday, the tranquil village of Gazari was thrust into chaos when it fell victim to a daring raid by a group of merciless bandits. The aftermath was grim, with 19 individuals abducted, one life tragically lost, and another victim left injured.
Despite the arrival of fresh security personnel, "Katsina Committee Watch Corps" CWC the situation in Sabuwa remains dire, leaving residents increasingly disheartened. The audacious criminals continue to sow chaos, raising questions about the adequacy of the security forces to confront this growing menace.
Residents on the ground lament the lack of essential equipment and support, leaving the security forces ill-prepared to combat the threat. Furthermore, the promised distribution of motorbikes to the KCWC, aimed at enhancing mobility in their roles, remains unfulfilled in Sabuwa local government. This resource deficit is hampering the response to the crisis.
The desperate situation has taken a heavy toll on the community, with the bandits imposing a reign of terror that disrupts daily life and prohibits agriculture, except for subsistence farming. The people of Sabuwa are left feeling exploited and powerless.
In response to this escalating crisis, the residents of Sabuwa are now calling upon Governor Malam Umar Dikko Radda, who, during his election campaign, acknowledged the insecurity issues faced by the community and pledged to allocate the necessary resources to restore safety to the region. The plea for action is now more urgent than ever, as Sabuwa remains in the grip of fear and uncertainty.
