In a striking political move ahead of the 2027 general elections, Alhaji Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled plans to mobilise two million supporters across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

Abba, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced the initiative on Friday through his political support platform, Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

He said the organisation was preparing to launch a nationwide mobilisation campaign, beginning with Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen Tinubu's political support base ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the proposed two-million-man mobilisation march would cover all six geopolitical zones, with particular attention initially given to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Rivers State.

Abba identified the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a key figure in the organisation's mobilisation strategy, saying HBTO intended to support his political efforts to secure victory for Tinubu in both the FCT and Rivers State.

He also disclosed that the organisation was planning a major political mobilisation exercise in Rivers State during the first week of November.

Beyond political rallies and campaign activities, the former vice-president's son announced plans to introduce a transportation support programme, beginning with the provision of 10 luxury buses.

He explained that the initiative was designed to ease transportation difficulties, reduce commuting costs for ordinary Nigerians and demonstrate that political support should involve practical contributions to people's daily lives.

The programme, he said, would commence in the FCT before gradually extending to other parts of the country.

“For us, supporting the president's Renewed Hope Agenda must translate into meaningful actions that positively affect the everyday lives of Nigerians,” Abba stated.

He further disclosed that HBTO had begun activating its political structures, with plans to establish a stronger presence across the six geopolitical zones, strengthen state and zonal leadership, engage community stakeholders and collaborate with other political groups supporting Tinubu's re-election.

Abba maintained that the organisation was not merely interested in organising political gatherings or displaying impressive membership figures but intended to build a coordinated grassroots network capable of converting public support into electoral results.

He said HBTO was established to unite Nigerians who believe in Tinubu's leadership and economic reform agenda, while also creating a platform for communicating government policies and engaging communities across the country.

Addressing differing political opinions, Abba described his decision to support Tinubu as a personal conviction, insisting that every Nigerian should have the freedom to make independent political choices without being subjected to criticism or hostility.

He said his political position should not prevent others from supporting different candidates or expressing opposing views, adding that democracy thrives when citizens can freely express their convictions.

On the Tinubu administration's performance, Abba acknowledged that some of its economic reforms had brought difficult adjustments for Nigerians but argued that the policies were intended to address longstanding structural problems and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

He maintained that the administration had introduced interventions across different sectors aimed at repositioning the country, insisting that the long-term benefits of the reforms should also be considered.

With the proposed two-million-man mobilisation march, transportation initiative and planned expansion across the country, HBTO says it is preparing to become part of the political machinery seeking another presidential mandate for Tinubu in 2027.
