The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) has scheduled a by-election for the vacant councillorship seat in Manawa Ward, Batsari Local Government Area, for Saturday, November 7, 2026.

In a notice announcing the election, the commission said the exercise would be conducted across all polling units in the ward.

The commission said the notice was issued in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, the Katsina State Electoral Law and the Local Government Law.

According to the approved timetable, political parties are expected to conduct their primaries between October 20 and October 25, while the commission will distribute nomination Forms KTSIEC 001 and 002 to political parties on November 2.

The deadline for the return of the nomination forms is November 5. The sale of nomination Forms KTSIEC 006 and 007 is scheduled for November 29, according to the timetable.

Other activities include a public enlightenment programme from October 24 to November 2, the recruitment of ad hoc election staff on November 27, and their training on November 28.

The screening of observers from non-governmental organisations is scheduled for November 4, while sensitive election materials will be distributed on November 6.
