2027: 4,000 Coalition Groups Back Tinubu, Radda, Cites Development Record

The Coalition of Political Groups and Associations in Katsina State, comprising over 4,000 groups and associations across the 34 local government areas, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for re-election in 2027, citing the development records of their administrations as the basis for its decision.

The endorsement was announced on Saturday at the People’s Square in Katsina, during a gathering organised by the coalition.

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Radda thanked the coalition for its support, describing the decision as a demonstration of confidence in the development direction of the Tinubu administration at the federal level and his administration in Katsina State.

The Governor recalled the role played by the various political groups during the 2023 elections, noting that their support contributed significantly to the emergence of the current APC leadership in the state.

“Your contribution during the 2023 election was very important to the success we recorded. The leadership we have today is also a product of your efforts and support,” Governor Radda said.

He noted that the coalition was among the earliest political formations to engage with his administration and expressed appreciation for its decision to publicly support continuity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Turning to his administration’s record, Governor Radda said projects and programmes implemented across Katsina State had provided tangible evidence of the government’s performance, stressing that the administration was ready to present its achievements to the people.

“We have projects across Katsina State that we can go out and campaign with. We are not shy to tell the people what we have done because our achievements are there for everyone to see,” he said.

Building on that record, the Governor urged the coalition, APC leaders and supporters to remain united, organised and committed to grassroots mobilisation, particularly in support of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and other APC candidates at the state and federal levels.

“We love our President, and we must project the achievements of our President, our Governor, our senators, members of the House of Representatives and members of the State House of Assembly,” he said.

Governor Radda also commended the youth and members of the various political groups for their support and cooperation, assuring them that his administration would continue to make governance more responsive to the needs of the people.

He therefore urged party leaders and supporters to take the APC’s development message to every community across the state and work collectively for the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

“We must do everything possible to make things easier for our communities. We must enter every community and seek their support for the re-election of our candidates,” the Governor said.

Governor Radda further disclosed that the political groups had not been financially induced by his administration to organise the endorsement, describing their decision as voluntary.

He appreciated the coalition for its support for the Tinubu/Shettima and Radda/Jobe tickets and called for sustained unity and collective effort towards securing victory for the APC in 2027.

Earlier, Chairman of the Coalition of Political Groups and Associations in Katsina State and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Yau Umar Gwajogwajo, said the coalition was established to bring together political groups and associations across the state for effective coordination and cooperation.

Gwajogwajo disclosed that 2,858 groups had so far been registered and verified across the 34 local government areas, while the wider coalition comprised more than 4,000 groups and associations.

According to him, many of the groups supported and campaigned for the APC during the 2023 elections, while the registration and verification exercise was undertaken to establish their structures and membership for effective political coordination.

He added that the exercise was voluntary and conducted without financial inducement. Gwajogwajo also commended the 34 local government chairmen, members of the State House of Assembly, commissioners and APC executives for their cooperation, noting that about 95 per cent of the groups had expressed support for Governor Radda.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the Coalition, Alhaji Yusuf Ali Musawa, said the coalition comprised more than 4,000 political groups and associations drawn from the 34 local government areas.

Musawa explained that many of the groups worked for the success of the APC during the 2023 general elections, adding that the registration and verification exercise had helped to strengthen coordination among their structures and members.

He said the coalition’s endorsement was based on its conviction and appreciation of the Radda administration’s performance, pledging continued support for the Governor and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Former Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, represented by former Deputy Governor Hon. Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, described the endorsement as a reflection of the development recorded under the Radda administration.

Jikamshi said Governor Radda had demonstrated commitment to fulfilling his promises to the people and assured the coalition of continued support for President Tinubu and Governor Radda ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also called for unity within the APC and urged members to respect the established leadership structure, with President Tinubu as the national leader of the party and Governor Radda as the party leader in Katsina State.

In the same vein, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, described the APC in Katsina State as united and assured that the party would continue to work together under Governor Radda’s leadership.

Katsina State APC Chairman, Hon. Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, similarly reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity and cooperation among its members, expressing confidence that the APC would work collectively towards victory in 2027.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, the member representing Mashi/Dutsi Constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Salisu Majigiri, said the APC remained united under Governor Radda’s leadership.

Majigiri noted that the Radda administration had implemented projects across the 361 wards and 34 local government areas, with development recorded across the state’s three senatorial zones.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by the National Chairman of ALGON, Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal, and a representative of the 34 local government chairmen, Hon. Muhammad Ali Rimi.

At the event, Federal Commissioner of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Madam Akpan Imo Effiong, presented an award to Governor Radda in recognition of his contributions to the development of Katsina State.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari; business community leaders; youth groups; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; and other senior government officials.
