2027: Pro-Tinubu, Radda Campaign Group Unveils 1.09 Million-Member Network Across Katsina

A political support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has announced the establishment of an extensive grassroots mobilisation structure spanning all parts of Katsina State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Director-General of Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu/Dikko (GMTD), Abubakar Tsanni, disclosed this during an interactive engagement with youth associations and community-based organisations in Katsina, where he highlighted the group's strategy for expanding support for both leaders.

Tsanni revealed that the movement has developed a far-reaching organisational framework covering the state, zonal, local government, ward and polling unit levels, describing it as one of the largest grassroots political networks currently operating in the state.

According to him, the structure is designed to ensure active participation at every level of the political process, with dedicated coordinators and support teams deployed across Katsina’s electoral landscape.

He explained that each local government area, ward and polling unit has been assigned five coordinators, complemented by a 10-member extension team tasked with strengthening mobilisation efforts and community engagement.

Providing details of the group's numerical strength, Tsanni said the arrangement translates to about 165 members operating within each polling unit across the state.

“With 6,651 polling units in Katsina State, our calculations show that we now have approximately 1.097 million people forming part of this grassroots structure dedicated to securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in 2027,” he stated.

The GMTD director-general noted that the movement was initiated under the leadership of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and is being coordinated in Katsina by Muttaqa Rabe Darma.

He credited the state coordinator with driving the organisation’s rapid expansion and consolidating support for the Tinubu and Radda administrations at the grassroots level.

Tsanni further disclosed that no fewer than 37 associations and organised groups have formally aligned with the movement, adding that several other organisations have expressed interest in joining the campaign platform as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Speaking at the event, a representative of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Danlami Kurfi, lauded the commitment of women and youth groups participating in the initiative.

Kurfi described the growth of GMTD within a relatively short period as impressive, attributing its expansion to the dedication of its members and leadership.

He encouraged supporters to remain focused despite criticisms from opposition parties, expressing optimism that both President Tinubu and Governor Radda would continue to enjoy widespread public support ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The minister’s representative also urged political actors across the country to emulate what he described as the determination, leadership qualities and accomplishments demonstrated by Minister Dangiwa since assuming office.

The event drew participants from various youth and community organisations, with discussions centred on grassroots mobilisation, political participation and strategies for strengthening support for the ruling administration in Katsina State and beyond.
