Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Saturday commissioned the Remawa Health Clinic in Rimi Local Government Area, constructed by Honourable Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Binta Remawa


Governor Radda in his remarks described the visit to the town as historic, saying he is the first sitting governor to officially visit Remawa in 39 years since Katsina State was created.


He commended Justice Binta for the project, which includes the health clinic, staff quarters and a solar-powered borehole.


“This facility, the quarters and water project are now yours. Protect them, maintain them and safeguard them so that our people can continue to benefit,” the Governor told the community.


Governor Radda announced that 1,000 residents from Remawa, Yargamna, ’Yar-tsamiya and ’Yar-nabanye communities would be enrolled into the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Scheme, KTSCHMA.


The beneficiaries include pregnant women, children under five, the elderly above 60, and persons with dusabilities. The Executive Secretary of KTSCHMA Alhaji Muhammad Safana, said distribution would be handled by community leaders and health workers.


The Governor further stated that the Ministry of Health would provide drugs, health personnel and maintenance support for the clinic.


Governor Radda assured residents that the Remawa road has been designed and construction will commence before the end of the year or early next year. He also promised to personally renovate the town’s Juma’at Mosque using his private resources.

On education, he directed the Commissioner for Education to assess the expansion of the Community Secondary School in Remawa and support the completion of three additional classrooms.


He also directed that qualified NCE holders in the area be recruited and posted to teach in their communities, in line with the state’s new policy of local recruitment of teachers.


In her remarks, the facilitator of the project, Justice Binta Remawa, said the clinic was built to address the lack of healthcare and water in the area. She explained that the solar-powered borehole was drilled to 130 meters and planned for community-led maintenance culture. 


She added that the facility has 24-hour solar power, solar streetlights, and staff quarters to enable health workers to live on site. Justice Binta appealed for government support to complete the Community Secondary School and provide a township road.


The State Commissioner for Health, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr.Shamsudeen Yahaya, said the facility would serve Remawa and neighbouring communities including ’Yargwamna, ’Yartsamiya and ’Yarnabanye.


He disclosed that the state government had renovated 8 health facilities in Rimi LGA, equipped them, with construction of staff quarters as well as provision of tricycle ambulance and employed 30 permanent health workers to strengthen primary healthcare at the grassroots.


The event was attended by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Former minister of Housing Arch. Ahmed Dangiwa, District Head of Rimi Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Abdulkadir, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Hon Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, members of the State Executive Council and traditional rulers.
