Troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have intercepted a suspected arms trafficking network and recovered a cache of illegal firearms during an intelligence-led operation in Kaduna State.

The Nigerian Army said the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement of illicit weapons from Jos, Plateau State, to Niger State.
In a statement on Monday, the Army said troops mounted a targeted stop-and-search operation and intercepted an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz at the Samaru checkpoint in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the statement, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and four submachine guns allegedly concealed inside the vehicle.
The Army said one of the suspects attempted to flee during the operation and was shot while trying to escape arrest. The suspect was subsequently evacuated to the Sector 7 Medical Centre in Kafanchan, where he is receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons were allegedly supplied by two suspected arms dealers based in Jos and were being transported to a recipient in Niger State.
The Army described the operation as a major breakthrough in efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and dismantle criminal networks operating across the country.
It reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies to combat insecurity and safeguard lives and property.
The Army also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid the fight against criminal activities.
