President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally declared his intention to seek a second term in office, officially entering the 2027 presidential race after submitting his presidential nomination forms under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The nomination documents were presented on the president’s behalf by his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Masari, during a brief ceremony attended by senior APC leaders and party stakeholders at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Masari disclosed that Tinubu had successfully completed the party’s nomination process and would once again contest the presidency alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, maintaining the same ticket that secured victory for the APC in the 2023 general election.
According to him, the submission marks the official commencement of President Tinubu’s bid for another four-year term and underscores the ruling party’s confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima partnership ahead of the 2027 polls.
The development effectively confirms months of political speculation surrounding Tinubu’s re-election plans and signals the APC’s decision to preserve continuity in its presidential ticket as preparations for the next general election gather momentum.
With the nomination process now concluded, attention is expected to shift to the party’s broader campaign strategy and the political realignments likely to shape the race for Nigeria’s highest office in 2027.
