The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar-Fage, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding schools across the state and ensuring a secure environment for teaching and learning.
Umar-Fage gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to the Police Secondary School, Mani, where he assessed the institution’s security arrangements as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s school protection framework.
The police commissioner, accompanied by the Coordinator of the School Protection Squad in Katsina Command, inspected the school’s security infrastructure and interacted with officers, staff and students.
Addressing members of the school community, Umar-Fage commended officers and staff for their dedication to duty, urging them to remain vigilant and uphold professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He underscored the importance of education to national development and highlighted the vital role of teachers in moulding responsible citizens and securing the nation’s future.
According to him, the protection of schools remains a key priority of the command in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Initiative aimed at enhancing security in learning institutions nationwide.
The commissioner reiterated the command’s resolve to ensure that schools across Katsina State remain safe and conducive for effective academic activities.
Responding on behalf of the staff and students, the Commandant of the school, CSP Gaddafi Tasi’u, expressed appreciation to the commissioner for the visit and pledged continued cooperation with security agencies to sustain peace, discipline and safety within the school environment.
