The management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University has announced plans to rebrand the institution as part of activities marking its 20th anniversary.
In a public notice signed by the Registrar, Muhammad Yusufu Abubakar, the university explained that since its establishment in 2006 by the Katsina State Government, the institution has remained committed to producing well-grounded, God-fearing and entrepreneurial graduates capable of contributing to societal development.

The notice revealed that during its 56th Regular Meeting held on November 27, 2025, the Governing Council deliberated on the need to reposition the university through a comprehensive rebranding process. Areas identified for review include the university’s vision and mission statements, logo, anthem and official colours.
According to the council, the move is aimed at updating the institution’s visual identity, messaging and overall image in line with modern global practices in higher education.

The university has therefore called on staff, students and members of the general public to contribute ideas and suggestions that would support the rebranding exercise.
Interested individuals or groups were advised to submit their contributions in both soft and hard copies through the university’s Information and Protocol Unit or the Documentation Unit located at the Senate Building of the institution in Katsina.
The statement emphasized that the rebranding initiative is intended to strengthen the university’s identity and position it more competitively among higher institutions in Nigeria and beyond.
