- As gov's son, others set to be turbaned
Three State Governors have been scheduled to commission multi-billion naira projects executed by the Governor Dikko Radda-led administration in Katsina State.
The governors include those of Kwara, who doubles as Chairman, Nigeria Governor's Forum (NGF), Abdulrahmam Abdulrazak; his Yobe counterpart, Mai Mala Buni, and Dr Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr Bala Zango, made this known while speaking to newsmen at the Government House press centre Wednesday afternoon.
Zango said Governor Buni is expected to kick off the event first, on May 1, 2026, by commissioning the recently reconstructed Ingawa-Dutsi-Shargalle road network in the morning at about 9am.
He said Governor Aliyu is also expected to commission the Yandaki-Shinkafi-Kofar Sauro junction road in the state metropolitan area at about 5pm on the same day.
The commisioner said Governor Abdulrazak is scheduled to commission a Model Secondary School at Radda community, in Charanchi council area, on May 5, 2026, by 11am.
In a related development, the state government says it has also scheduled an event for the turbaning ceremony of three newly appointed District Heads, including a son of the state governor.
According to the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Bala Zango, the event is to hold on May 2, 2026, at the palace of the emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman.
Zango said three people would be turbaned on the saud date, including Mohammed Dikko Radda, who is son to the incumbent state governor.
He said the younger Radda is to be turbaned as the District Head of Radda, in Charanchi council area, and that the title was abdicated by his father, Dikko Radda, after he become state governor.
He also said the son of the current Katsina emir, Ahmed Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, would also be turbaned same day as the District Head of Dankama, Kaita council area.
Furthermore, the commssioner added that Alhaji Abubakar Darisu would be turbaned on tue same day as the District Head of Muduru, in Mani council area.
He said the turbaning event would witness series of activities that include a special polo tournament, Durbar displays, a dinner which would be held the Government House premises, among other activities.
Zango said the state government had made arrangements to ensure a successful commsssioning as well as turbaning events, and that a committee had been set up to ensure the said activies were hitch-free.
