The Federal Government has stepped up efforts to tackle the rising number of out-of-school children and improve foundational learning, as it plans a national education bootcamp in Jos, Plateau State.
The programme, tagged the 2026 Basic Education in Nigeria Bootcamp (BEN-B), is scheduled to hold from April 28 to 30 at Crispan Hotel, with participation from state governments, development partners and key education stakeholders.
The bootcamp aims to generate practical solutions to reduce the out-of-school population and strengthen basic literacy and numeracy across the country.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmad, are expected to lead deliberations, while Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, will deliver the keynote address.
The initiative, themed around inclusive education, will also review progress made in areas such as community learning centres, open schooling and education data systems.
Officials say the meeting aligns with ongoing reforms in the education sector and is part of broader efforts to ensure access to quality education for all Nigerian children.
