Katsina Times
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has complied with a court order directing the suspension of all its activities pending the commencement of a suit filed by the party’s chairman, Musa Wamba.
Findings by Katsina Times revealed that the party halted its scheduled internal elections, which were to be held on Thursday. According to the party’s timetable, elections for ward, constituency, and local government executives were expected to take place, followed by the state congress slated for Saturday.
However, investigations confirmed that none of these exercises took place. Correspondents who visited various ADC offices across the state observed that the premises were deserted, with no signs of meetings or electoral activities.
Party officials at the ward and local government levels, who were contacted, said they were awaiting directives from higher authorities before taking any action.
Based on observations and information gathered, it appears the party has fully complied with the court’s directive to suspend all operations. Efforts to obtain official comments from key party figures were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Rising Tensions Among Party Members
Meanwhile, there are growing concerns among some party members who expressed dissatisfaction over the allocation of leadership positions.
Several members, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that individuals who had invested significant time, effort, and resources in building the party were sidelined in the distribution of positions.
Some warned that the current leadership arrangement could lead to internal divisions within the party in Katsina State.
One member said the situation has caused considerable distress among loyalists, with some fearing adverse health effects due to the tension.
Sources also indicated that even the state chairman, Musa Wamba, had reportedly sought an alternative position if replaced, but this request was not granted.
Political observers say the ongoing crisis could have implications for the stability and future prospects of the ADC in Katsina State, particularly as it prepares for its internal electoral processes.
