The 9th, 2025 National Librarians’ Conference concluded in Katsina State with a colourful gala night at the Hyatt Hotel on 2 Tuesday, 2025, where participants hailed the state’s hospitality and security arrangements.

In her closing remarks, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi, Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, said Katsina exceeded expectations despite earlier concerns about safety and logistics.

“From the onset, there were doubts about security and logistics. Many even questioned why we were bringing such a large gathering to Katsina. But on arrival, we met peace, calmness, and overwhelming hospitality. Everything was in place, and the organization was superb,” she stated.

Prof. Anunobi commended Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Local Organizing Committee, and security agencies for their efforts in guaranteeing the success of the event. She also urged librarians to serve as ambassadors of literacy across Nigeria, stressing the importance of sustaining reading culture and heritage preservation.

Representing the Governor, Pharm. Nasir Yusuf, Permanent Secretary I, assured participants of Katsina’s continued investment in education and literacy. He described library science as a “noble profession” and praised the National Library for choosing Katsina as host.

The gala night was attended by dignitaries including Malam Musbahu Na’iya, Katsina State Librarian; Alhaji Abdullahi Shafi’u, Executive Director of the Katsina State Library; and several directors of library boards from across the country.

The evening ended with cultural performances and dinner, drawing the curtains on the national conference.
