Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritise unity, reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Radda, who chairs the council, gave the charge during its inauguration at the new APC State Secretariat in Katsina, where he called on party leaders, elected officials, political appointees and candidates to mobilise support across the state's 34 local government areas and 361 wards.

He said the party's success in the elections would depend on collective responsibility, effective coordination and sustained engagement with voters, from polling units to the state level.

“I urge you to sustain this spirit of unity and commitment for our great party, the APC,” the governor said, appreciating party members for their continued support for his administration.

Radda described his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as longstanding, adding that the president had demonstrated commitment to Katsina's development through federal engagements and appointments.

He urged party members to work towards Tinubu's re-election and secure APC victories in the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.

The governor also called for reconciliation among party members, urging leaders and candidates to acknowledge their shortcomings, listen to one another and resolve disagreements.

“We must return to our communities and seek the understanding, cooperation and support of our people. We should approach this task with humility, as though we are seeking their votes for the first time,” he said.

Radda warned party members against taking voters' support for granted, urging former aspirants, lawmakers and candidates to return to their constituencies, engage residents and reconcile with people they might have offended.

He commended former aspirants who had agreed to work together after the party primaries, describing unity as essential to the campaign's success.

The Director-General of the campaign council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, said the campaign would build on the APC's performance in the 2023 elections through wider consultations, improved coordination and increased grassroots participation.

Dangiwa recalled that he led the party's campaign in 2023, when the APC won all three senatorial seats in Katsina State, 13 of the 15 House of Representatives seats, 33 of the 34 State Assembly seats and the governorship election.

He said the new campaign would prioritise reconciliation and party unity while encouraging members to place collective interests above personal ambitions.

Dangiwa also claimed that the Radda administration had fulfilled more than 70 per cent of the promises made during consultations with residents across the state's 361 wards.

APC announces October 28 campaign take-off

The Deputy Director-General of Operations and Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, said the campaign would officially commence on October 28, 2026.

He said the council planned to strengthen mobilisation at polling-unit, ward and local government levels, with the number of representatives at each polling unit to be increased from nine to 30, including at least 10 women.

Nasir added that the verification of representatives was ongoing and that the campaign structure would include elected officials, party leaders, businesspeople, religious leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders.

He also announced plans for zonal tours beginning in Funtua, Daura and Katsina.

The APC State Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the council, Hon. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, described the inauguration as significant and commended Radda for promoting unity within the party.

He said preparations were ongoing, including the conduct of primaries and the clearance of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Co-Chairman of the council and former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, assured Radda of continued support from stakeholders in Daura Zone, calling for unity and coordinated mobilisation.

Similarly, the Minister of Art, Culture and Tourism and Grand Patron of the council, Hannatu Musa Musawa, pledged the support of stakeholders in Funtua Zone for Tinubu and Radda. She also commended the governor for retaining Dangiwa as the campaign's Director-General.

Another co-chairman, Dr Mustapha Inuwa, urged party leaders to strengthen mobilisation through local government and ward structures, stressing the need for effective coordination.

Representing lawmakers, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, Senator Muntari Mohammed Dandutse and Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura also pledged support for the campaign, urging members to communicate the party's achievements to voters.

The Chairman of Kaita Local Government Area and National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Bello Lawal, said local government chairmen would coordinate grassroots mobilisation across the 34 LGAs.

The Chairman of APC Stakeholders, Alhaji Salisu Mamman Continental, also pledged continued support, while businessman and Grand Patron of the council, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, expressed confidence in the party's preparations for the 2027 elections.
