New Chairperson Assumes Leadership in Nigerian Union of Teachers Katsina State Wing

In a pivotal state meeting held on December 6, 2023, the Nigerian Union of Teachers Katsina State Wing (NUT) marked the installation of their new Chairperson, Hajiya Rakiya Shehu Runka.

Hajiya Rakiya, previously the Deputy Chairman of NUT and spouse of the former Secretary to the Katsina state government, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, officially took office in accordance with the organization's protocols.

In an interview with Katsina Times, Hajiya Rakiya expressed her gratitude, citing her experience in leadership roles from overseeing schools in Katsina state. She acknowledged the support of the Katsina state government, led by Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, applauding his dedication to education and teacher development.

As the first woman to hold this position, Hajiya Rakiya pledged to bring positive changes to the organization, emphasizing ongoing teacher training for effective education.

Outlining her leadership approach, she disclosed plans to visit schools, fostering strength and confidence in teachers while advocating for their rights. Her commitment extends to ensuring the welfare of teachers across Katsina state, particularly within the education sector.

Addressing women, Hajiya Rakiya encouraged them to aspire for success and commended her husband, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, for his support, urging other men to learn from his example.

Members of the NUT expressed joy and optimism for the new leadership during a meeting held at the NUT office near the Katsina State Petrol Stations Regulatory Office (NMDPRA).
