Gov. Radda Urges 2026 Pilgrims to Pray for Peace, Unity, and Security in Katsina and Nigeria

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on all 2026 intending pilgrims to pray for lasting peace, unity, and security in Katsina State and Nigeria. 

The Governor made the call today during the official farewell and send-off ceremony for Katsina State pilgrims departing for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 

In his address, Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth, well-coordinated, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj operation.

"Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and today is indeed a special and blessed day for all of us. Those you see here are among the fortunate ones chosen by Allah to perform this sacred obligation," Governor Radda stated.

Governor Radda disclosed that the state government had to intervene to resolve initial financial challenges that affected the allocation of Hajj slots.

"I have been informed that the state initially faced difficulties in meeting its allocated Hajj slots. In response, we approved a loan facility of ₦3.8 billion, which enabled Katsina State to secure and fill a total of 3,890 slots for this year’s Hajj," he explained.

The Governor further announced that the Katsina State Government will cover the cost of Hadaya for all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, as part of its continued commitment to pilgrims’ welfare.

He also disclosed that each pilgrim will receive a $500 allowance to support basic needs while in the Holy Land.

Governor Radda added that a total of 200 officials have been deployed to ensure effective coordination, welfare support, and spiritual guidance throughout the pilgrimage.

"All have been carefully selected and supported to provide spiritual guidance, medical care, and logistical assistance throughout the pilgrimage," he noted.

He further explained that his administration has strengthened the institutional capacity of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board to enhance efficiency and address past operational challenges.

"We have taken deliberate steps to improve the structure and efficiency of the Pilgrims Welfare Board. I have also directed the Amirul Hajj and all relevant authorities to ensure strict supervision, accountability, and discipline among all officials," he said.

Governor Radda urged pilgrims to serve as worthy ambassadors of Katsina State, reminding them of the sacrifices made by many families to enable them undertake the holy journey.

"Many people sold personal belongings to perform Hajj. Therefore, you are expected to conduct yourselves with the highest level of discipline, patience, and mutual respect," he cautioned.

He also warned against misinformation during the pilgrimage, urging pilgrims to communicate responsibly and avoid statements that could misrepresent government efforts.

The Governor noted significant improvements in accommodation and feeding arrangements for pilgrims in the Holy Land.

"Since assuming office, we have ensured better accommodation and quality feeding for our pilgrims. I personally inspected these facilities during previous Hajj operations and was satisfied with the progress made," he stated.

He commended the Pilgrims Welfare Board and associated agencies for improved service delivery and operational standards.


Governor Radda charges all intending pilgrims for  Hajj exercise to uphold the highest standards of discipline, patience, integrity, and unity, describing the pilgrimage as a rare spiritual privilege granted by Almighty Allah.

Earlier, the Director General of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Yunusa Dankama, confirmed that the state successfully secured 3,890 Hajj slots through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), attributing the achievement to improved coordination and reforms.

He urged pilgrims to strictly adhere to schedules during screening, documentation, and departure processes, warning that missed flights may result in forfeiture due to strict international arrangements.

Dr. Dankama also commended the discipline of Katsina pilgrims in previous years, noting that independent Hajj observers consistently ranked the state among the most organized and peaceful contingents in Nigeria.

"This reputation is a source of pride for us. We urge you to maintain this standard during the 2026 Hajj exercise," he said.

Representing the North-West Zonal Office of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman, through Commissioner Alhaji Umar Kalgo, commended Katsina State for its consistent preparedness and effective Hajj management system.

He urged pilgrims to strictly observe all guidelines issued by Saudi authorities, especially the proper handling of the Nusuk Card, which serves as an essential identification document for access to holy sites including Makkah, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.

He further advised pilgrims to prioritize their health, remain hydrated, and avoid picking unidentified items for safety reasons.

In the same vein, the Amirul Hajj, Barrister Ahmed Usman El-Marzuq, said extensive consultations were held with stakeholders, community leaders, and Hajj officials to ensure seamless coordination.

He explained that clear roles and responsibilities have been assigned to all officials to promote efficiency, discipline, and accountability.

"We have clearly defined roles for all officials to ensure efficiency and accountability. Sensitization sessions have also been conducted on proper conduct, welfare management, and feeding arrangements in Makkah and other holy sites," he said.

He assured that the Hajj team is fully prepared for a successful and well-coordinated operation.

Goodwill messages were delivered on behalf of the Katsina and Daura Emirates by the Sarkin Fadar Katsina, Alhaji Abdulkadir Damale, who urged pilgrims to serve as worthy ambassadors of the state and to pray for lasting peace, unity, and security in Katsina State and Nigeria.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar; Head of Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji;  Alhaji Bilya Sanda and the Grand Khadi of Katsina State.

Also present were members of the Katsina State Executive Council, local government chairmen, and prominent business community leaders, among other key stakeholders.
