Former classmates of the Minister of Housing Development, Muttaqa Rabe Darma, under the aegis of the 1983 set of Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Kofar ’Yandaka, Katsina, have paid him a congratulatory visit following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The delegation visited the minister at his residence to celebrate what they described as a well-deserved national appointment attained by one of their former schoolmates.

During the visit, the association formally presented a congratulatory letter to the minister through its executive members.

Those who accompanied the delegation included retired Assistant Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Salisu U. Galadunci; former Director-General of the Katsina State Bureau of Public Procurement, Isyaku Audi Kofar-Bai; former Director of Administration and Finance of Katsina Local Government Council, Abdurrahman Marafa; retired Corps Commander Iro Danladi; retired Permanent Secretaries Salisu Abdu and Aminu Mijinyawa, among others.

Speaking during the presentation, the association thanked Allah for granting one of their members the opportunity to serve the nation at such a high level and prayed for wisdom and guidance for the minister in the discharge of his duties.

The group also urged Darma to justify the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu, the people of Katsina State and his former classmates, noting that his appointment came at a critical time when the country needs experienced hands to move it forward.

They expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver, citing his track record in public service, including his previous roles as commissioner in various ministries in Katsina State and Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).

Responding, Darma appreciated the visit and thanked his former classmates for finding time to honour him despite their personal commitments.

He assured them that he would not disappoint them or President Tinubu, who found him worthy of the appointment, pledging to hit the ground running in order to achieve the goals of the ministry.

The minister also prayed for the repose of the souls of deceased classmates and wished those facing health challenges quick recovery.
