Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Tuesday inaugurated the first phase of the newly reconstructed Katsina Motel located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), describing the project as a strategic milestone in boosting tourism, commerce, and investment in the state.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the governor acknowledged that the project encountered significant challenges at its early stages, including skepticism and internal setbacks. He, however, commended the investors for their perseverance and commitment, which ensured the successful delivery of the initial phase.

“Many doubted the viability of this project. We faced numerous challenges, including internal sabotage, but your resilience has made today’s achievement possible,” Radda said.

He explained that the project, executed through a public-private partnership with Omu Resort, reflects his administration’s resolve to leverage private sector collaboration in driving economic growth.

According to the governor, the Katsina Motel is expected to generate revenue for the state, create employment opportunities for youths, and stimulate commercial activities within the area.

“This project is not just about accommodation; it is a catalyst for economic development, job creation, and overall community growth,” he added.

Radda further disclosed that subsequent phases of the project are scheduled for completion in the coming months, with the entire development expected to be fully delivered by early 2027.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly environment through improved security, enhanced infrastructure, and business-friendly policies.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Yusuf Jerde, described the investment as a strong vote of confidence in the state’s economic direction.

“By choosing Katsina, you have demonstrated trust not only in our policies but also in our people. This investment goes beyond business; it reflects confidence in our economic vision,” he said.

Jerde assured investors of continued government support, noting that the state would sustain efforts to attract and facilitate investment across sectors.

He also highlighted ongoing development initiatives, including the upgrade of primary healthcare facilities and the establishment of a modern kidney care centre in the state.

The Katsina Motel redevelopment project, led by Omu Resort, has transformed a previously dilapidated facility into a modern hospitality destination. The upgraded complex features contemporary guest rooms, luxury suites, conference halls, and advanced service technologies, alongside eco-friendly systems and modern security infrastructure.
