Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Thursday unveiled the official jersey for the Cycling Kano 2025 event, scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 20.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Governor’s Office in Kano and was attended by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sani Musa Danja. The jersey, featuring vibrant colours and design elements inspired by Kano’s cultural heritage, will be worn by participants during the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development, youth engagement, and the promotion of healthy living across the state. He noted that initiatives such as Cycling Kano align with the government’s broader agenda of youth empowerment and social cohesion.
Mr. Danja described Cycling Kano as a key component of the state’s strategy to promote grassroots sports and encourage an active lifestyle among residents. He said the initiative goes beyond competition, serving as a platform to promote wellness, discipline, and community bonding.
“Cycling Kano is not just a sporting event; it represents our collective effort to build a healthier and more united society through sports,” Danja said.
The state government commended sponsors and partners for their support and urged residents to participate in the event and support the cyclists.
The cycling event is scheduled to commence at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday from the Emir’s Palace in Kano. Organisers said adequate security and medical arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
Cycling Kano is a state-backed initiative aimed at promoting cycling as a competitive sport, a means of physical fitness, and an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. The 2025 edition is sponsored by the Kano State Government, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), with additional support from Peak Yogurt and CWAY.
