In a move aimed at enhancing road safety operations and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders, the Katsina State Road and Traffic Safety Authority (KASSAROTA) undertook a significant working visit to Funtua Local Government Area on Monday, 28 April 2025.
The high-level delegation, led by the Executive Chairman and Director General of KASSAROTA, Major Garba Yahya Rimi (Rtd), included members of the governing board, retired senior security officers, and the Public Relations Officer of KASSAROTA, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri, who has been instrumental in coordinating the agency’s outreach and communications.
The visit involved an inspection of KASSAROTA operations in the area, listening to concerns from staff, and fostering stronger ties with traditional rulers, security agencies, and local government leadership.
The delegation commenced the visit with a courtesy call on His Royal Highness the Sarkin Maska and District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo. The team sought prayers for a successful mission and expressed gratitude for the traditional institution’s continued support of KASSAROTA since its inception.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Board and former Director General, AIG Danlami Yar’adua (Rtd), commended the Sarkin Maska for his consistent advice and support which, he noted, has significantly boosted the agency’s operations in the region. He reaffirmed KASSAROTA’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with the emirate for sustained progress.
The Sarkin Maska, in response, lauded the agency’s leadership for its professionalism in ensuring road safety and adherence to law across the state. He prayed for success and expressed confidence in the team’s efforts.
The visit also included engagements with strategic offices, such as the Funtua Local Government Chairman’s office, the Area Police Command Headquarters, the Central Police Station (CPS) in Funtua, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) division in the area.
These engagements provided KASSAROTA with firsthand insight into interagency coordination on law enforcement and road safety in Funtua, offering valuable input for future improvements.
Key members of the delegation included: CP Danlami Yar’adua (Rtd), Governing Board Chairman; CP Rabi’u Naladodo (Rtd), Member; CP Sulaiman Keyare (Rtd), Member; Alhaji Gambo Mashi, former Director in the Katsina State Government; and PRO Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri.
As part of the visit, a special interactive session was held between KASSAROTA officials and staff at the agency’s Funtua office. Officers used the opportunity to voice their challenges, welfare concerns, and suggestions for improved operations. The session underscored KASSAROTA’s openness to feedback and commitment to consultative and transparent leadership.
In his closing remarks, Director General Major Garba Yahya Rimi (Rtd) appreciated the dedication of the staff and assured them that their grievances were noted and that corrective action would follow. “This visit is not merely a show of presence – it’s a mission to listen, understand, and act. We are committed to wiping away your tears and implementing lasting reforms,” he said.
The visit concluded with a strategic review session alongside the Funtua Area Road Commander, Mustafa Matazu, where observations from the field were discussed and recommendations were gathered for implementation.
This visit marks a critical milestone in KASSAROTA’s ongoing reform efforts, aimed at enhancing synergy with security agencies, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting safer roads for the people of Katsina State.
