Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated sharply after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to expand military operations against Tehran, warning that key infrastructure across the country could be targeted unless Iranian leaders agree to enter negotiations.

Speaking amid growing hostilities between the two nations, Trump declared that the United States was prepared to intensify its campaign by striking Iran’s power generation facilities and major bridges in the coming days if diplomatic talks do not materialise.

According to the U.S. president, the next phase of military action would focus on crippling critical infrastructure that supports Iran’s economy and daily activities.

“Next week it gets really bad for them because next week comes the power plants. Next week comes the bridges,” Trump said, adding that the attacks would proceed unless Iran agrees to return to the negotiating table.

He maintained that American military operations had already inflicted significant damage on Iran’s defence capabilities, claiming that the country’s military had been weakened considerably by recent strikes.

Trump further indicated that Washington had no immediate plans to halt its offensive, stressing that military action would continue for as long as the United States deemed necessary.

The latest threat comes against the backdrop of a rapidly deteriorating relationship between Washington and Tehran, with both sides locked in an increasingly dangerous confrontation that has raised fears of a wider regional conflict.

On Tuesday, U.S. forces carried out another wave of attacks on Iranian targets, marking the fourth consecutive day of military strikes. The operations targeted strategic locations as part of what Washington described as efforts to increase pressure on the Iranian government.

In a further escalation, the United States also reinstated a naval blockade around Iranian waters, particularly in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical routes for global oil shipments.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed the move in a statement, announcing that American forces had resumed measures aimed at restricting maritime access to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas.

The renewed blockade is expected to heighten concerns within international markets and among global powers, given the Strait of Hormuz’s importance to international energy supplies and commercial shipping.

Analysts warn that the latest developments could deepen instability in the Middle East and increase the risk of broader military confrontation unless diplomatic efforts succeed in easing tensions between the two longtime adversaries.

With military operations intensifying and both sides maintaining hardline positions, the coming days are expected to be critical in determining whether the crisis moves toward negotiations or a further escalation of conflict.
