The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector through digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving governance, accountability and service delivery.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated this during the official handover of a Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB) in Abuja.
Alausa, who was represented by the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Zainab Abukur, described the deployment as a major step toward translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into practical reforms within the education sector.
According to a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr. Ikharo Attah, the programme is designed to strengthen school supervision, enhance accountability and support real-time, data-driven decision-making across basic education institutions.
The initiative is powered by the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
Alausa explained that the monitoring dashboard would provide education administrators with real-time access to accurate and up-to-date information on school performance and operations across schools.
He said the platform would reduce dependence on routine physical inspections while enabling faster, more informed and evidence-based decisions through remote monitoring.
“The adoption of digital tools reflects the Federal Government’s determination under the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a more efficient, transparent and responsive education system that prioritises learning outcomes and accountability,” he said.
Receiving the dashboard on behalf of the board, the Acting Chairman of FCT-UBEB, Mrs. Florence Wenegeme, described the intervention as timely and strategic.
She noted that the platform aligns with ongoing reforms in the education sector and would strengthen internal management systems, improve oversight of schools across the Federal Capital Territory and enhance service delivery.
Wenegeme also commended the Federal Government for sustaining reforms aimed at modernising education administration and improving learning outcomes.
The event featured a live demonstration by a technical team, which showcased the dashboard’s monitoring capabilities and operational features designed to support seamless supervision and improved data management in schools.
