The Katsina State Government has finalized arrangements to host a medical outreach team from the Revive Belgium Mission, which will provide free surgeries and medical consultations to residents between 1 and 14 December 2025.
According to the Ministry of Health, the Belgian medical team is expected to arrive in Katsina on 29 November 2025 for a two-week intervention targeting patients with major surgical and medical conditions. The mission will offer hernia repairs, gynecological and abdominal surgeries, dental procedures, and medical consultations across the state. All services will be provided at no cost, specifically for indigent and vulnerable patients.
Health officials project that about 200 patients will benefit from the surgeries after screening at the Turai Yar’adua Maternal and Child Hospital, Katsina.
In a significant development, the state government has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Revive Belgium Mission to support diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cervical and breast cancers. The partnership also includes training of healthcare personnel and strengthening of public awareness campaigns to promote early detection of cancer.
To ensure the success of the mission, the government has supplied new theatre and dental equipment to both Turai Yar’adua Maternal and Child Hospital and the General Hospital Katsina. Officials noted that recent investments in the health sector under Governor Dikko Umar Radda helped attract the Belgian team—making Katsina the first state in Nigeria’s North-West region to benefit from the Revive Belgium medical outreach.
The cancer-focused activities under the MoU will commence next year in collaboration with the Pledging Aid Charity Foundation (PAC-F).
A Stakeholder Engagement Committee has already been formed to work with the visiting medical professionals throughout their stay in the state, the Ministry added.
