Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has approved the constitution of a high-level committee to represent Katsina State at the forthcoming Zonal Public Hearing on the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The hearing, organised by the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, is scheduled to hold across the six geopolitical zones of the country. The North-West Zonal session is expected to take place in Kano.
Recognising the importance of this national exercise, Governor Radda emphasised the need for Katsina State to present a unified and well-articulated position on all issues under review. To that effect, he appointed a 20-member delegation comprising respected statesmen, legal professionals, academics, civil society representatives, and key government officials.
The committee is chaired by Waziri (Senator) Ibrahim Muhammad Ida, PhD, CON, Wazirin Katsina, with members including:
Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs, Special Adviser on Local Government Inspectorate, Special Adviser on Public Service Reforms, Representatives of the Katsina State House of Assembly and the State High Court of Justice, Hon. Justice Sadiq Abdullahi Mahuta, MFR (Rtd), Galadiman Katsina, Engr. Ahmad Diddiri Ahmad, Galadiman Daura, Prof. Sadiq Radda (Bayero University Kano), Prof. Binta Dalhat Dan-Ali (UMYUK), Dr. Abubakar Siddiq (ABU Zaria), Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, mni, A.D. Umar and Suleiman Ibrahim Safana (both former Permanent Secretaries), Chairmen of the NBA and CSO Katsina State Chapters, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Security (Secretary), Director of Human Resources (Assistant Secretary I), Acting Director, Cabinet, Governor’s Office (Assistant Secretary II)
Governor Radda urged the committee to carry out wide consultations and ensure that the voices and aspirations of the people of Katsina State are accurately reflected and vigorously defended during the public hearing.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to genuine constitutional reforms that would enhance inclusive governance, promote equity and justice, and support sustainable national development.
