Two thousand five hundred primary school pupils in Katsina State have benefited from school uniforms, textbooks, and other school materials donated by the BAT Bloggers Organisation.
The gesture according to the spokesperson of the association Bello Olamilekan is expected to cover all the grassroots primary schools across the 36 states and is geared towards ensuring a conducive atmosphere for learning and good education for the pupils.
While distributing the items at the Barda Primary School in Batagarawa Local Government Area of the State on Monday, Olamilekan a similar gesture has been carried out in Sokoto and Kano States in the northwest.
“We are here to give 2,500 school uniforms, textbooks, and other school materials. When we arrived at this school, we checked their toilets and classrooms and found out that they were sitting on the floor. So, we decided to get mats for them before we leave here. This is to ensure a conducive environment for learning and good education for the pupil.
“These pupils are the senators, presidents, and House of Representatives of tomorrow. We are going to bring more for this school. We are covering grassroots primary schools in the 36 states, we have done Sokoto and Kano and we are now here in Katsina.
“We appeal to the state government not to abandon this school because of its proximity to the Katsina Air Force base,” he added.
In his remarks, the headmaster of Barda Primary School Kabir Gambo expressed gratitude for the gesture, urging the state government to construct an additional block of classrooms in the school to decongest the school.
He also appealed to the government to rehabilitate the school toilets and equip them with modern facilities.
“The school is congested with students because the classes are merged together. Two classes are merged together. So, we want them to be separated so that the students should own classes of themselves not be mixed in a single class.
“We also want the toilets to be rehabilitated and equipped with modern facilities,” he appealed.
Also speaking, the Head of the Physical Planning Department in Batagarawa LGA Ibrahim Musa expressed gratitude for the gesture, stating that it will help learning in the school.
