The Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has deepened its inter-agency collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) through a strategic initiative to improve road safety and enhance driver competence within the Command.

This renewed partnership was underscored on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, when the newly deployed FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Maxwell Lede, paid a courtesy visit to the Customs House in Katsina.

Welcoming the FRSC delegation, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Abba-Aji Idriss, expressed appreciation for the visit and lauded the FRSC’s longstanding commitment to promoting safer roads. He emphasised the importance of continuous training for official drivers to enhance operational efficiency and professionalism within the Service.

“We are committed to working with the FRSC to enhance the competence and professionalism of our drivers through structured training programmes,” Comptroller Idriss stated, reaffirming the Command’s readiness to partner with the Corps in conducting driver retraining workshops.

Corps Commander Lede reiterated the FRSC’s readiness to support the NCS by offering technical expertise and facilitating capacity-building programmes tailored to the needs of Customs personnel in Katsina.

“We visited the Customs House to explore deeper collaboration between our two agencies. The FRSC remains committed to offering its expertise to improve operational safety standards,” Lede noted.

The collaboration, which includes a comprehensive driver training workshop, is expected to significantly boost safety awareness and operational discipline among official drivers in Customs Katsina Command.

Both agencies pledged to sustain the partnership through regular engagements and joint initiatives supporting national safety, security, and professional development objectives.
