The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged residents of the state to use the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir to promote unity, peace, and social responsibility, especially in areas of hygiene,
security, and youth development.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, Governor Radda extended warm greetings to the Emir of Katsina, district and village heads, traditional title holders, and the people of the state during a speech delivered on Saturday at the 2025 Eid el-Kabir celebrations.

"This day reminds us of the values of obedience and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Isma’il. It is a time for reflection, devotion, and reaffirming our commitment to the common good of our society," the Governor said.

He congratulated pilgrims from Katsina State currently observing Hajj in Saudi Arabia, praying for the acceptance of their worship and their safe return. He also used the opportunity to urge residents to maintain environmental hygiene as the rainy season begins, stressing the need to clear drainages to prevent flooding and disease outbreaks.

Governor Radda warned against illegal encroachment into cattle routes, grazing reserves, and forest areas, revealing that a state Task Force Committee had been empowered to eject trespassers. A dedicated court has also been set up to enforce punitive measures against offenders.

On the issue of rising drug abuse among youth, he appealed to parents, religious leaders, and community heads to intensify efforts in awareness and education. “We must take decisive action to combat this menace that is endangering our youths and the future of our communities,” he stressed.

He commended the efforts of security personnel in fighting insecurity across the state and assured them of continued government support. “We appreciate your sacrifices and commitment. Together, with community support and credible information, we can overcome insecurity,” he said.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. “We are determined to work harder and deliver lasting impact across the state,” he added.

The Governor concluded by calling for moderation during the celebration and urged residents to support the less privileged while praying for peace and prosperity.

"May Allah accept our acts of worship, grant us abundant blessings, and sustain peace in our communities. Allah Ya ba mu lafiya da zaman lafiya, Allah Ya ba mu Damina mai albarka," he prayed.
