Governor Radda Seals Energy Deal with UK Firm to Boost Power Supply in Katsina

Katsina, March 3, 2025 – Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Genesis Power and Energy Solutions UK in London to advance energy projects aimed at improving electricity supply in the state.

The agreement covers the development, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of key power projects, including the completion of the 10MW Wind Power Plant at Lambar Rimi, with a potential future integration of a 10MW Solar PV system.

Speaking on the deal, Governor Radda disclosed that the partnership would also deliver a 50MW power solution for the Katsina Green Economic Zone, starting with an initial 10MW in Phase 1. Additionally, the MoU includes captive power solutions for at least five critical sites across the state to enhance energy supply.

“This initiative is designed to provide reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly power solutions to drive economic growth and attract investments to Katsina State,” the governor stated. He emphasized that the project would address power shortages in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and water resources.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and climate action, noting that the MoU marks a significant milestone in building resilient infrastructure for a greener and more prosperous future for Katsina State.

The agreement underscores the state government’s dedication to enhancing energy security, supporting industrial growth, and fostering sustainable development, positioning Katsina as a key player in Nigeria’s renewable energy transition.
