ABUJA, Aug 28 Katsina Times - A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage among Nigerian Muslims, showing police officers forcibly removing the hijabs of Muslim women in detention.
The incident occurred during the 2024 Abuja Arba'een Symbolic Trek, where several Muslim women were arrested and had their hijabs removed by police officers.
The Muslim Sisters Forum, under the leadership of Sayyid Ibraheem Ya'qoub El-Zakzaky, has condemned the actions of the police, calling it "blasphemy against Islam" and a violation of their religious rights.
The forum has threatened to publicize the incident and challenge it in court, and has called for prayers to be said against the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the FCT Police Commissioner, Benneth Igweh, who they accuse of deliberately abusing their religion.
