A tragic incident occurred in the town of Magamar-Jibia in the Mazanya district of Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, where terrorists attacked the home of a security officer belonging to the Nigerian Hunters Association (HAN), Aliyu Yahaya, aged 31. The assailants shot and killed Aliyu mercilessly, subsequently abducting his wife, son, and three neighbors.

Salisu Yahaya, a relative of the deceased, recounted that on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, around 2:00 AM, the armed terrorists scaled the wall of Aliyu's home, shot him dead, and set his body ablaze inside his room. The attack left the family and the community in shock and mourning.

Despite being fatally wounded, Aliyu’s actions reflected his determination to defend himself and his family. Basiru Muhammad, a colleague of the slain officer, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of this patriotic young man, who died while serving his community. He emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures to prevent such tragedies.

Amadu Bello, whose two wives and mother-in-law were abducted, pleaded with authorities to prioritize the rescue of the kidnapped victims and to protect the community from further attacks. Alhaji Sani Salisu also urged the government to take immediate action to safeguard residents from terrorist activities, noting that the lack of adequate security personnel has contributed to the frequency of such attacks.

Alhaji Aminu Dan Mugyanbo stressed the importance of decisive action from Governor Dikko Umar Radda to address the security challenges plaguing Magamar-Jibia and other parts of Jibia Local Government Area. He warned that the continued terrorist activities in the region have created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety, necessitating swift measures to restore peace and security.

While the community grapples with the devastating impact of this attack, they continue to support the efforts of local vigilante groups in protecting lives. The memory of Aliyu Yahaya and those who perished in the attack will serve as a reminder of the ongoing battle against terrorism and the collective resolve to overcome the security challenges threatening lives and property.
