Katsina State Police Achievements Unveiled in February 2024

In a recent press conference held at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer, shared the remarkable achievements of the command during the period of 1st to 29th February 2024.

The command reported a total of 59 major crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicides, and cattle rustling. Impressively, 188 suspects were apprehended, and 49 cases were charged to court. Notable arrests include:

1. Notorious Car Thief Apprehended:
   Mustapha Abba, 20 years old, was arrested in connection with the theft of a Golf 3 Saloon with registration number USL 31 AG. The vehicle was reported stolen on February 19, 2024, and recovered in Kano LGA the following day. Abba confessed to the crime and implicated two accomplices.

2. Collaborative Effort Leads to Kidnappers' Arrest:
   Three notorious kidnappers, Hassan Ibrahim (25), Ibrahim Ishaq (33), and Shafiu Shuaibu (30), were arrested through collaboration between Katsina State Police and FCT Police Commands. They confessed to being part of a syndicate terrorizing Safana and Kurfi LGAs in Katsina State, leading to the arrest of other accomplices.

3. Motorcycle Thieves Apprehended:
   Four suspects, Hamza Abdullahi, Nazifi Saidu, Yakubu Dan-malam, and Shamsu Sani, were arrested for motorcycle theft. The anti-kidnapping unit traced and apprehended them, recovering suspected stolen motorcycles and related items. The investigation revealed their connections to larger networks involved in the theft and disposal of stolen motorcycles.

The command also highlighted the successful rescue of 72 kidnapped victims and the recovery of 562 rustled animals during this period. The police are actively pursuing leads and additional arrests to ensure justice is served. The commitment of the Katsina State Police Command to maintaining public safety remains steadfast.
