Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep grief over the demise of Hajiya Salamatu Asabe, the younger sister of former Nigerian Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).
The governor has also sympathised and condoled with Vice President Kashim Shettima, who also lost his step-mother, Hajiya Hauwa Abba Kormi, on Thursday.
Governor Radda described the death of the deceased as painful and shocking, urging the duo of Gen. Abdulsalami and Vice President Shettima to be consoled with the virtuous and impactful life lived by their deceased relatives.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, quoted Radda as saying that their exit from this sinful world came at the time their elderly guidance, support and prayers for their families and Nigeria as a whole were direly needed.
“The Government and good people of Katsina State are deeply saddened over the eternal transitions of our former President’s younger sister, and Vice President Shettima’s step-mother.
“However, we are consoled that, during their brief sojourn on our Mother Earth, they devoted their time, energy and wealth to uplifting their societies and humanity in general.
"We pray that Almighty Allah (S.W.T) will pardon their wrongdoings and accept the rewarding acts of Ibadats they performed before returning to Him,” he stated.
Governor Radda, therefore, prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased Aljanatul Firdausi and comfort both Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar and Sen. Kashim Shettima, including their bereaved family members.
