Katsina school principal suspended over sexual assault allegations

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has suspended Lawal Ibrahim, the Principal of Government Day School in Dantankari, Dandume LGA, following allegations of sexual assault against a female student. The suspension came after a report was filed detailing the alleged incident.
According to a press statement released by the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, Governor Radda had directed the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation into the matter.
It was also gathered that inquiry has been initiated into the case of Dandume Divisional Police Officer, DPO, over allegations of accepting gratification relating to the case.
The state’s police command confirmed their awareness of the allegations against the DPO and assured that investigations were underway.
The statement reads:
“His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received a report on allegations of sexual assault against Lawal Ibrahim, a Ministry of Education staff member, who was then the principal of Government Day Secondary School, Dantankari, in Dandume Local Government Area, involving a female student of the same school.
“In consequence thereof, the Governor directed as follows: The Honourable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to immediately suspend the said Lawal Ibrahim and investigate the allegation promptly, take appropriate action, and report back to the Governor.”
