Governor Radda commends predecessor Shema’s achievement in Katsina

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has expressed satisfaction with what he described as the significant impact his predecessor, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had on the state during his eight-year tenure from 2007 to 2015.
The incumbent Governor revealed this during his address at the ‘Lecture and Award Day’ ceremony, organized by Umaru Musa Yar’adua University to honour former Governor Dr. Shema.
Radda cited Shema’s dedication to fostering unity, love, and progress across the nation as the reason for the conferment of the prestigious award by The Faculty of Law Board of the university.
Recalling the era of Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema’s governance, Governor Radda highlighted the transformative strides made across various sectors of the state’s economy.
He emphasised Dr. Shema’s commitment to completing projects initiated by his predecessor, the late Malam Umaru Musa Yar’adua, underscoring their profound positive influence on the state’s progress.
Represented by his Deputy, Faruk Jobe at the ceremony, Governor Radda reaffirmed the current government’s commitment to building upon previous achievements, promising to enhance the lives of citizens across the state’s 34 Local Government Areas by improving existing projects, programmes, and policies to adapt to the evolving societal landscape.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, commended Dr. Shema for his instrumental role in shaping the university into what it is today. He noted that Dr. Shema’s administration executed numerous commendable projects during his eight-year tenure, earning him admiration and celebration from the entire university community and the state.
Highlighting the enduring legacies of Dr. Shema’s administration, Prof. Muhammad specifically applauded the Faculty of Law for honouring the former Governor with the prestigious award, acknowledging his lasting impact on the university.
The University Don also paid tribute to the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua for initiating the establishment of the university and commended the efforts of his successors in upholding and developing the institution.
Expressing gratitude to the present administration under Malam Dikko Umar Radda, Professor Muhammad acknowledged the continued attention and support provided to the university. He expressed the university’s commitment to aligning with governmental policies for the betterment of society, ensuring quality education and training for their growing student population.
Also speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Binta Dalhat Dan-Ali, described the former Governor as a stalwart in educational development.
She said, ‘Our awardee, a shining light to many, embodies excellence in politics, administration, and leadership. His sustained efforts have turned the dream of our law faculty and Umaru Musa Yar’adua University into reality.
