Governor Dikko Umaru Radda Strengthens Healthcare Ties with World Medical Relief Inc
In a strategic move to bolster international partnerships, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda undertook a visit to the headquarters of World Medical Relief Inc (WMR) in Detroit, Michigan. The Governor engaged in discussions with Mr. George V. Samson, President of the 70-year-old organization, and his team.
World Medical Relief Inc, renowned for its decades-long commitment to providing medical supplies and equipment, has contributed billions of dollars towards global health initiatives.
> "WMR's commitment to providing 10 containers filled with medical supplies and equipment, beginning January 2024, valued at approximately $1 million each, marks a significant stride in enhancing healthcare access in Katsina State," Governor Radda stated.
Expressing sincere appreciation, Governor Radda commended WMR for their impactful efforts in supporting developing nations, particularly highlighting their contributions to Nigeria. He welcomed the positive response from WMR towards assisting Katsina State under the auspices of its Partnership for Health program.
Governor Radda passionately articulated his commitment to ensuring high-quality healthcare access for the people of Katsina State, citing this as the driving force behind seeking WMR's support. He briefed the President on the healthcare needs assessment conducted upon assuming office, coupled with the launch of a comprehensive baseline study to monitor healthcare interventions in the state.
In a significant development, WMR pledged to provide 10 containers filled with medical supplies and equipment, beginning January 2024, each container valued at approximately $1 million. Additionally, they committed to facilitating the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, including MRIs and CT Scans, at discounted rates, covering installation and training for state technicians.
WMR's collaboration with the state extends to performing pacemaker surgeries for the most vulnerable individuals in Katsina, aiming to enhance cardiovascular healthcare accessibility.
After touring WMR's facilities, Governor Radda affirmed his dedication to collaborating with the organization to advance healthcare in Katsina State. His team will persist in engaging with WMR and will explore partnerships with medical equipment manufacturers to tailor solutions to the state's needs.
Governor Radda's vision is crystal clear — within the next two years, every ward in Katsina should boast a functional primary healthcare facility, equipped to diagnose and treat a diverse range of medical conditions.
