Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged political stakeholders to put aside differences, accommodate returning members and work together to promote peace, unity and development across the state.
Governor Radda made the call on Friday while receiving Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa and representatives of his political structure from the 34 local government areas of Katsina State at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Government House, Katsina.
Receiving Dr. Inuwa and his supporters, Governor Radda called on APC local government chairmen, members of the State Executive Council, senior government officials, members of his administration and other stakeholders to take responsibility for accommodating those returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the gathering demonstrated that political differences could be managed through dialogue, reconciliation and mutual understanding.
"This gathering should teach us that good leadership and politics do not have to be about fighting. People can disagree politically and still come together in peace and work for the progress of the state," Governor Radda said.
He urged party leaders to create an environment where returning members could contribute meaningfully without unnecessary tension over political responsibilities.
"I call on our party leaders, local government chairmen, members of the State Executive Council and all our members in government to take responsibility for those who have returned to us today. We must give them the opportunity to contribute to the progress of our party and our state," he said.
Governor Radda stressed that political destinies differed from one individual to another, urging stakeholders to respect individual political journeys and avoid unnecessary disputes over positions and responsibilities.
He commended Dr. Inuwa for mobilising his political structure across the 34 local government areas and presenting it to the administration, describing the development as an opportunity to deepen political cooperation in Katsina State.
The Governor also appreciated former Governor Aminu Bello Masari for attending the event, recalling their shared political history and the roles played by several leaders present in the political development of the state.
He noted that he later served as Chief of Staff, while Dr. Inuwa served as Secretary to the Katsina State Government under the Masari administration.
Governor Radda urged stakeholders to place the collective interest of Katsina above personal differences, stressing that peace and unity were essential to sustaining development.
Earlier, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa said those present represented the political structure he and his associates had built across the 34 local government areas over several decades.
He recalled that many of the members had been with him since 1999 and had remained together through different political platforms and transitions, including the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and its subsequent merger into the APC.
"We have been together with almost all these people since we started politics. We have passed through different political circumstances together and have continued to maintain our relationships," he said.
Dr. Inuwa said the structure had maintained its grassroots connections despite political challenges and changes over the years.
He disclosed that it currently comprised about 220 groups across Katsina State, many of them led by community leaders and influential representatives in their respective areas.
According to him, many of the groups had expressed support for the Radda administration and decided to align fully with the APC.
He added that some members living outside Katsina State returned specifically to attend the gathering, describing their presence as a demonstration of their commitment to the new political direction.
Dr. Inuwa assured Governor Radda that the structure would support the administration, strengthen the APC, promote unity and contribute to the development of Katsina State.
Also speaking, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal welcomed Dr. Inuwa and representatives of his political structure, describing the occasion as an important development for political unity in the state.
He highlighted key interventions under the Radda administration’s Building Your Future Agenda, including the recruitment of more than 10,000 teachers, upgrades to health facilities, agricultural interventions and the payment of outstanding workers’ gratuities.
Faruk said government programmes and projects had been spread across the 361 wards of the state to improve citizens’ wellbeing and strengthen grassroots development.
On his part, former Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, described Dr. Inuwa’s return and the presentation of his political structure as a significant development.
Masari said the occasion represented a homecoming for Dr. Inuwa and an opportunity for political stakeholders to rebuild relationships and work together in the interest of Katsina State.
He urged politicians to embrace political maturity, tolerance and peaceful engagement, stressing that differences should not permanently divide people who share a common interest in the progress of the state.
The former Governor said political experience and networks should be used positively to promote cooperation and constructive participation.
He expressed hope that the development would encourage reconciliation and mutual respect among political stakeholders.
Similarly, APC State Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, welcomed Dr. Inuwa and his political structure into the party, describing the development as a contribution to strengthening the APC across Katsina State.
Dr. Saulawa said Dr. Inuwa was not new to the state’s political environment, having participated actively in its political development for many years.
He recalled Dr. Inuwa’s involvement in earlier political platforms, including the National Republican Convention (NRC), and acknowledged the grassroots relationships he had built over the years.
The APC Chairman said Dr. Inuwa’s political experience and grassroots connections would add value to the party as it consolidates its structures across the state.
He commended Governor Radda for his calm disposition, dedication and commitment to the development of Katsina State.
Dr. Saulawa assured Dr. Inuwa and the returning members of the support of the APC leadership at both local government and state levels, urging them to work collectively with existing party structures.
In the same vein, former APC State Chairman, Alhaji Shitu S. Shitu, described the gathering as an important moment in the political development of Katsina State.
Shitu said the return of Dr. Inuwa and the presentation of his 34-LGA political structure demonstrated the value of reconciliation and cooperation among political stakeholders.
He highlighted Governor Radda’s previous public service experience, including his roles as Chief of Staff and Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), noting its relevance to his approach to governance.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari; senior government officials; APC leaders; political stakeholders; and representatives of Dr. Mustapha Inuwa’s political structure from across the 34 local government areas of Katsina State.
