Politics, it is said, is Dynamic.  It is more of a chameleon which changes its colour to maintain the environment in which it found itself.

Some people would like to remain a float all the times, and would equally wish to identify with the positive side of the devide.  In line with that some of them who tried for one reason or the other to show the President that they can do it, are beginning to see impossibilities in their claims and would like to find where they could shift the possible blame in case things did not workout as they expected.

After the elections of 1979, Governors have remained influential in their states when it comes to election, but the provision of 1979 constitution which allowed only the President to remain on his seat while contesting for second term, while all Governors with similar ambition have to vacate their seats, had caused some of them to lose their seats despite having their leutenants on appointments and other positions.  However, the subsequent provisions that allow them to occupy their seats while contesting guaranteed their influence not only for returning to their seats, but influencing the other electoral fortunes in their states as it affects other elective positions except for some exceptional cases. It is, therefore, visible that winning election at any level in a state has to to do with the sitting Governor and this is not peculiar to any state but all of the 36 Nigerian States.  It may not be out of place if we include Abuja, because at present Wike is calling the shots in Abuja as the Minister of the FCT.

Perhaps, it is the best way to offer an excuse for the inability of some people to deliver what they promise to the President on the shoulders of the Governors, be they from North or South as the case may be.  In my thinking, some people haveNORTHERN GOVERNORS ARE BETRAYING TINUBU - ?

After the elections of 1979, Governors have remained influential in their states when it comes to election, but the provision of 1979 constitution which allowed only the President to remain on his seat while contesting for second term, while all Governors with similar ambition have to vacate their seats, had caused some of them to lose their seats despite having their leutenants on appointments and other positions.  However, the subsequent provisions that allow them to occupy their seats while contesting guaranteed their influence not only for returning to their seats, but influencing the other electoral fortunes in their states as it affects other elective positions except for some exceptional cases. Perhaps, it is the best way to offer an excuse for the inability of some people to deliver what they promise to the President on the shoulders of the Governors, be they from North or South as the case may be.  In my thinking, some people have shown President Tinubu that they can make it possible for him to win the election from the North for him, but have later realized their incapability to do so without the Governors and felt either, they cannot bow before the Governors and ask for help to save their face.  This may be the reason behind such a statement.  It is not enough to make a blanket statement that Northern Governors are against Tinubu, rather, there is need to adduce some concrete examples to back the claim.

In practical terms, we have not seen what Southern APC Governors are doing which differ from that of the Northern Governors in their bid to bring Tinubu back to Aso Rock in 2027.  The APC Governors usually meet to take a uniform decision on issues of relevance to the party’s victory at the 2027 polls.  It is not enough to bring hypothesis into a matter and arrive at a decision on the basis of individual assumptions.  It should be accepted that given the powers of a Governor to run the affairs of the State he actually has a hand in most of what affects the people and can best take steps to hold them with him.  The constitutional provision that allow the conduct of local government elections in the hands of officers who are appointees of the State Governor has given advantage to the Governor, as his party takes control of majority if not all the local government chairmen and councilors, which gives grassroots election control to him.  Whether doing that is right or wrong, is another Topic for another Day. But as it stands, the Governor has a position of dominance over it.  Therefore, these comments that are circulating as from late September into early October would not help the matter, rather it could worsen it.

Politics Engine Room is persuation, two wrongs, it is said do not make a right.  If those who claim to be Tinubu loyalties want to assist him, my advice to them is to jettison confrontation with Governors whether in Northern or Southern Geographical location and try to do two things.  (1)  Let them ascertain the veracity of their claim to ensure that what they are saying is correct.  If so, they should persuade the Governors at individual level or in group as the case may be, and convince them that having Tinubu in Aso Rock come 2027 is the best for them, because no matter the relationship, your family member cares more about your problem and prospect than a member of another family as he would also have his own relations to attend to.  More so, Tinubu has attained his position because of the power of political persuation and otherwise.  Therefore, it would be a disservice to him, if any one who claims to be working for him turn out to do or say what creates more problems to him than solving them, because that is provocative.  Are we being told that, the failure of Tinibu to win Lagos in 2023 was the hand work of Governor Sanwo Olu?

Our primary interest is to see APC wins from top to bottom, so any statement or action that is enemetic to that is not welcome, no matter where it originates from or who so ever is involved.
