Health workers in Katsina State have suspended their seven-day warning strike following direct intervention by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

The Assembly of Health Care Professionals, AHCP, comprising MIWUN, NANHM and NUAHP, announced the suspension in a circular dated 17th October, 2026, signed by its Chairman, Com. Ibrahim A. Balange.

According to the circular, the decision followed a meeting between the union and Governor Radda on 16th October, 2026, during which the Governor committed to immediate reopening of negotiations and resolution of all outstanding welfare issues.

The Assembly said it secured firm commitments from the Government, including immediate reopening of negotiations through a Technical Roundtable, full review and implementation of CONHESS in line with extant circulars, comprehensive review and payment of all allowances including Hazard, Call Duty and Shift Duty, resolution of CONHESS 10 skipping for qualified officers as provided in the Scheme of Service, and establishment of a Joint Technical Committee with clear Terms of Reference and timeline.

The Assembly, therefore, said it unanimously agreed to suspend the ongoing strike effective 00:00 a.m. on 18th October, 2026, directing all members to resume full clinical and administrative services across all health facilities from that date.

The union appreciated its members for their cooperation, resilience and solidarity, and commended Governor Radda for his immediate response and fatherly intervention, noting that the union remains committed to protecting the interests and welfare of its members.

The suspension comes as a major relief to residents and underscores Governor Radda's responsive leadership and commitment to industrial harmony and improved healthcare delivery in Katsina State.
