Suspected bandits have killed two persons and rustled four cattle during an attack on Na'alma Ward in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Residents told Katsina Times that the attack occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday when the gunmen stormed the area and killed a local vigilante member, Alhaji Nuhu, a resident of Gidan Barau.
According to the residents, the attackers ambushed the vigilante on farmland near Gidan Dan Ango village. They described the deceased as a courageous member of the local vigilante group who resisted the attackers despite being outnumbered.
The bandits were said to have fled with four rustled cattle after killing him.
Sources further said residents of nearby Gidan Hazo community later mobilised in an attempt to intercept the fleeing bandits and recover the stolen cattle. However, another resident identified as Shawili was reportedly killed during the confrontation.
When contacted, there was no official statement from the police or other security agencies on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
