North Korea fired off multiple short-range ballistic missiles early Thursday, Japan's Defense Ministry said, as Pyongyang looks to keep itself on the busy agenda of the next U.S. president.
All of the missiles, which were fired toward the Sea of Japan, splashed down in waters outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, according to the ministry. At least two of the missiles flew for more than 350 kilometers, hitting a maximum altitude of 100 km, it said, adding that it was continuing to analyze the launches with South Korea and the United States.
The ministry strongly condemned the North's "repeated launches" of ballistic missiles and other weapons tests, calling them a threat to "the peace and security of Japan, the region and the international community."
