The Federal Government has approved additional funding through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for the construction, furnishing and renovation of key infrastructure projects at Federal University Dutsin-Ma.

The intervention, under the 2026 Capital Appropriation and TETFund Annual and Maintenance Intervention Projects, will finance the construction and equipping of an Entrepreneurship Training Centre, the construction and furnishing of the Department of Human Kinetics, as well as the renovation of a female hostel in the university.

The projects were unveiled on June 18, 2026, when the university conducted the public opening of financial and technical bids submitted by contractors seeking to execute the projects.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Mohammed Khalid Othman, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman, said the university would strictly adhere to due process and the provisions of the law in the award of contracts.

He urged contractors who participated in the bidding process to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith, noting that every competition must produce both winners and unsuccessful bidders.

Earlier, the university’s Chief Procurement Officer, Yusuf Sani, said the financial bids were opened only after the technical evaluation had identified qualified bidders.

He explained that the technical documents submitted for the 2026 TETFund Annual Intervention would be scrutinised by the Bid Evaluation Committee to determine the contractors that met the required standards.

The bid opening exercise was attended by principal officers of the university, contractors, consultants, representatives of the Bureau of Public Procurement, civil society organisations and officials of the university’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).

The university said the projects are expected to strengthen teaching, learning and entrepreneurship development by improving academic and residential facilities on campus.
