Veteran entertainer and social activist, CharlyBoy, has described the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as a symbol of possibility and national progress, saying the facility demonstrates what can be achieved when vision is matched with determination and execution.

The entertainer, whose real name is Charles Oputa, shared his impressions after touring the refinery alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He documented the visit through photographs and a video posted on his social media platforms.

Located in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos State, the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery has been widely regarded as one of Africa’s most ambitious industrial projects.

Reflecting on the visit, CharlyBoy said the massive facility reinforced his belief that Nigeria possesses the capacity to achieve remarkable feats through purposeful leadership and unwavering commitment.

He wrote: “Standing side by side with Baba Olusegun Obasanjo and my brother Aliko Dangote, I take another look at wetin vision, courage and persistence fit build.

“This refinery no be small project. E be like city inside city.

“As we dey waka through the massive structures, pipelines and facilities, one thing kept ringing in my head: One man’s dream fit become national asset.

“People dey always talk about wetin Nigeria no get.

“Today, I see wetin Nigeria fit become when ambition meet execution.”

The popular entertainer, fondly called “Areafada,” noted that beyond its industrial significance, the refinery has generated employment opportunities and rekindled optimism among many Nigerians.

According to him, interactions with workers and visitors during the tour revealed a strong desire among citizens for tangible signs of progress and development.

“The love from workers and visitors wey stop to take pictures, gist and share moments with us reminded me of something important: People still dey hungry for hope.

“Not the hope wey politicians dey promise every election season.

“The hope wey you can touch.

“The hope wey you can see.

“The hope wey stand physically before your eyes.”

CharlyBoy also paid tribute to industrialist Aliko Dangote, founder and President of the Dangote Group, for spearheading the project, which many regard as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and the wider African continent.

Recalling a moment shared with Obasanjo and Dangote during the visit, he reflected on the power of perseverance and individual determination.

“As Baba, Dangote and I stood together for photographs, I no just see three men.

“I see three different journeys. Different paths. Different convictions.

“But one lesson: Never underestimate wetin one determined human being fit achieve.

“Nigeria still get challenges. Plenty. But days like this remind me say possibility still dey alive. And sometimes, seeing is believing.”

Meanwhile, the veteran entertainer disclosed that preparations are in top gear for the launch of his long-awaited memoir titled “999.”

According to him, the book, which features a foreword written by former President Obasanjo, will be formally unveiled at a public presentation scheduled for July 31 in Lagos.
