Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda is the son of His Excellency, Gwagwaren Katsina, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, Ph.D., the Executive Governor of Katsina State.
Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda was born on the 4th of January, 2005. From an early age, he commenced his Islamic education at home, before proceeding to Wadeal Fadini School in Sudan, where he memorized the Holy Qur’an in its entirety twice, between the years 2021 and 2023.
He obtained his primary education at Gateway International School, Kano, graduating in 2015. He then attended Capital Science Academy, Abuja, where he completed his secondary education in 2021.
In recognition of his outstanding academic performance, he gained admission in 2023 to Dalhousie University, Canada, where he is currently pursuing a degree in Engineering.

On the 17th of April, 2025, under the leadership of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, the Katsina Emirate Council established six new district headships. This initiative was aimed at enhancing security, promoting agricultural and livestock development, and expanding commercial activities across Katsina State and beyond.
Among the newly established districts was the District of Radda, located in Charanchi Local Government Area. In line with this development, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, graciously conferred the traditional title of Gwagwaren Katsina and appointed Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda as the pioneer District Head of Radda.
As the son of His Excellency, Gwagwaren Katsina, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, Ph.D., the Executive Governor of Katsina State. He descends from the distinguished Sulfi Fulani (Sullubawa) lineage and hails from a long line of eminent traditional rulers and Islamic scholars.
His ancestry traces back to Barebari Ummaru, son of Barebari Mijinyawa, grandson of Sarkin Muduru Gidado Nakadi, and Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Dikko. According to renowned historians such as Professor Dankousu, Professor Munir Mamman Katsina, Professor Sa’idu Muhammad Gusau, and Dr. Yusuf Bala Usman, the Sulfi—commonly referred to as Sullubawa—are a noble sub-group of the Fulani ethnic group who migrated from Futa-Toro to Hausaland around 773 AH (1352 AD).
They initially settled in Zandam (in present-day Jibia) before advancing eastward and founding the town of Shinkafi under the leadership of Malam Abdullahi, also known as Liman Danbala. Liman Danbala was the father of Liman Muhammadu, also known as Liman Namarai, the grandfather of Malam Ummaru, father of Sarkin Muduru Muhammadu Gidado.

Sarkin Muduru Muhammadu Gidado was born in the town of Marai and later relocated to Iyatanci, where he joined his brother, Muhammadu Dikko. Upon Muhammadu Dikko’s appointment as Karshi, he moved to Marai with Gidado. When he later became Danbarhim of Giremawa, Muhammadu Gidado was appointed Magaji Azai Duwan-Taru and subsequently transferred to Gewayau. He was later elevated to the position of Sarkin Muduru under the reign of Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Dikko.
A valiant warrior, Sarkin Muduru Gidado played a significant role in various military campaigns led by Durbi Sada and later under Sarkin Katsina Dikko. He partook in expeditions across Kanta, Birnin Kebbi, Gobir, and Maradi (present-day Republic of Niger) and continued his leadership well into the early colonial period until his passing in 1920.
Sarkin Muduru Gidado was the father of Muhammadu Mijinyawa, his fourth son, who held the traditional title of Sarkin Kwaru (Ma’aji of Katsina Emirate). Mijinyawa was married to Amina, the daughter of Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Dikko. Following the death of Barebari Suleimanu, brother of Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Dikko, in 1917, Mijinyawa was appointed to the Barebari title. Upon his demise, his brother Ummaru succeeded him.
Today, His Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda continues this legacy of leadership and service, having inherited the revered title of Gwagwaren Katsina from his father, His Excellency Malam Dikko Umar Radda, the sitting Governor of Katsina State.
